  • Primary research interests include valvular heart disease, echocardiographic assessment of left atrial appendage and optimisation of percutaneous closure procedures, and the application of advanced echocardiographic modalities such as strain imaging
  • PI or Co-PI of a number of research projects on the use of artificial intelligence in the assessment of aortic stenosis, quantitative determinants of outcomes of tricuspid regurgitation, and the imaging of left atrial appendage for the optimization of left atrial appendage occlusion

Dr. Michael Tsang is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia. He completed his MD and residency training at the University of British Columbia, and advanced echocardiography and research training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical expertise and research interests include the use of echocardiography for assessing valvular heart disease and the application of echocardiographic strain imaging in the evaluation of myocardial dysfunction.
