Dr Thalia S. Field is a Stroke Neurologist with the Vancouver Stroke Program and an Associate Professor of Medicine at UBC, where she holds the Heart and Stroke/Sauder Family Professorship for Stroke Research. She is the Director of Clinical Trials for the Vancouver Stroke Program, and past program director for the Program’s postgraduate clinical-research stroke fellowship. She has been involved with Education and Research with the Canadian Stroke Consortium and is the Co-Chair for the Canadian Best Practice Guidelines for the Management of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and is on the editorial boards of Stroke and the Canadian Journal of Neurological Sciences.

Dr Field’s research interests relate to stroke in younger adults, neuro-cardiology and innovation in clinical trials. She is passionate about the benefits of multidisciplinary collaboration to discovery and education and maintains a wide collaborative network that extends beyond stroke and includes cardiologists, thrombosis specialists, urban health physicians, data and computer scientists, biomedical and computer engineers, industry partners, and patients. She is an investigator with the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, Data Science Institute, Language Science Institute, and Women’s Health Research Institute, and is an Affiliate with the UBC School of Biomedical Engineering. Her work is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Michael Smith Health Research BC and the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute.

She holds a National New Investigator Award in Stroke from the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a Health Professional Investigator Award from the Michael Smith Foundation of Canada and in 2020 was named as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.
